why? My intentions were good, but my time was limited. My interests one year did not carry on to the next. My children had no desire to clutter their own homes with useless memorabilia that meant nothing to them as adults. I think it all comes down to this. I have limitless dreams, a great imagination and find living in reality rather boring. However, reality doesn’t lie. I am never going to be a sculptress or a seamstress or fill my windows with 1960’s macrame planters…I might get a dog, but at this stage of the game, my focus is walking without rolling my ankle, so a dog might be out of the question. I have decided to try on most of my clothing that is no longer needed and donate, donate, donate. Am I ever going to work in an office again? No. Can I balance on high heels? Definitely not. Do I want to cook, bake and invite people over for home cooked meals on a regular basis? A hard pass. So my point is this. If you are a fellow dreamer, that’s great, but let’s keep our dreams tethered at least loosely to reality because honestly all the rest is just wishful thinking. Although I did recently see an above ground planting bed that was half price and which I was tempted to buy to grow my own vegetables and get on a health food kick. Did you know there are endless amounts of books and podcasts instructing people who want to grow their own food? Okay, just kidding, I’m perfectly happy going to the grocery store. So, if you’re even contemplating moving in the next year or two, start now. You might be amazed to find that your young self is not in step with your older, more mature self. Hey, some dreams work out. That’s why we have astronauts and ballet dancers but for me, my life as a new homeowner is dedicated to be on a strict purchase as I need it basis. Sometimes reality can really be a downer!
