After recording a $378,390 deficit at the end of 2009, Champlain Township enjoyed a

huge $824,429 surplus as of December 31, 2010, according to the township’s auditors’

report.

Revenues increased from$8,534,974 to $9,463,471while expenses rose from$9,451,450

to $9,554,987.

Although the municipality recorded a $91,516 deficit on operations, a surplus of

$824,429 resulted from the application of $915,945 of transferred funds and interest

towards the red ink.

Last year, the township collected $9,948, 615 in taxes, compared to $9,545,349 in 2009.

Of this sum, $5,712,323 ($5,544,398 in 2009) was transferred to the united counties of

Prescott-Russell and the school boards.

User fees generated another $2,436,839, compared to $2,311,896 the previous year.

The Ontario government contributed $2,131,171, compared to $1,689,142 in 2009.
