Key responsibilities • To support the Head of Fire Assurance to ensure the Directorate of Estates & Facilities complies with all of it duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 through operational implementation of the University’s Fire Safety Management System. • Working under the leadership of the Head of Fire Assurance, the role is responsible for the provision of Fire Risk Assessments across all buildings / spaces occupied by King’s College London. • Ensure re risk assessments are kept up to date by conducting reviews at the frequency determined by the university re safety standards. • Track monitor and review action plans stemming from re risk assessments, inspections undertaken by the enforcement authorities and / or audits on re safety management systems and arrangement and provide regular progress reports to the Head of Fire Assurance. • Support Assurance Support Manager in delivery of re safety training, providing training when required. • Provide post project re safety completion inspections as part of project handover acceptance checks prior to occupation. • Monitor re alarm activations, investigate and review trends to recommend preventative measures to reduce activations year on year. • Record information and provide support on investigations in the event of a re and or incident which has the potential to cause a re. • Support Head of Fire Assurance to liaise with Enforcing Authorities, providing technical support and guidance where necessary, liaising with Health & Safety Services Implementing, reviewing and monitoring re safety standards and performance in accordance with university’s Fire Risk Management System, the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and British Standards where applicable. • Record and provide visibility of re safety compliance across the university through innovative analytics tools, enabling real time trend analysis and recommendations to Senior Management. • Work in collaboration with Health and Safety Services when required. • Providing expert technical advice on the application and interpretation of re safety guidance to the university in line with the Fire Risk Management System. • Providing regular reports on re safety performance and undertaking assurance activities across the estate to assess compliance. • Ensure Premises Information Box (PIB) documentation pack-ups are provided for all KCL buildings / occupied spaces. • Develop and implementation of building re strategies for each of the university premises where information is not available, ensuring key re safety information is documented. Day to day support including out of hours availability in emergencies.
