The cost for this program is $4,500 for the first year, and $500 for each year after that tomaintain licensing. “We need local dona- tions to cover the cost of the program and other expenses,” said Carkner. She is hoping to begin the program in the fall, offering the program three times per year. Approxima- tely 24 volunteers will be required to run things smoothly. Students are welcome to volunteer, earning community service hours by doing so. Carkner will be holding an information evening onWednesday, August 19 at 7 p.m., at the Anglican ChurchHall next to Higgin- son Tower. “We need to hear your thoughts about the material we will share with you and to seek out organizations or individuals whomay be interested in sponsoring and/or volunteering to help out with this program,” Carkner said. “As communities, we want to send a clear message to our youth that we care and we will guide them towards making a positive choice that will impact their future and ours.”
