DP: And all the moonshines come in Mason jars. In the old days down in the States that’s how people bottled moon- shine, in Mason jars, right? And I understand that people can also buy your products online at AfterDarkDistillery.com. LP: They sure can – and they do. We use Canada Post to ship our products directly to our out-of-province custom- ers. It’s our first year having our online store, we’re three months into it now, and we’ve already shipped moonshine to a customer all the way in Alexandria, Ontario and as far as Whitehorse in the North. Your location in Sicamous couldn’t be more idyllic; it really seems like the quintessential Canadian vacation destina- tion. You must get a lot of visitors there at the distillery. “We were looking for something else to do, another adventure.” LP: We get a lot of tourists, especially from Alberta – the Calgary-area, mostly. Their perception of the store has been

just fantastic. They love the experience when they come in here. We’ve used a lot of local talent to build-up the floor and the counters and the still area itself is a fun part of the tour, of course. We’ve made it fun for visitors. When people are done the tour, after they’ve seen where the grain comes in and where we mash it and all the dif- ferent steps in the distillation process, they come into the store and they can taste test whatever’s on the shelves. DP: We’re also the houseboat capital of Canada. We’re only two blocks away from the houseboats here on Shuswap. I think there are more than 400 houseboats here at any given time – it’s unbelievable. It sounds like you’re both really taken with your new home. LP: We love it and we’re always looking for ways to give back. In terms of events and partnerships in the commu- nity, we’re a supporter of the kid’s lunch program here in town. We have big events here in the spring and the profits we make off certain things will go straight to the lunch program. We’re also happy to donate items to different
