There will.be an opening between them o f % inch. In this opening print, “FIRST CHURCH,” beginning near the top and ending near the bottom. Open the doors and Write the following words, using in their midst the individual let ters of the words “FIRST CHURCH,” in the Qrder in. which they appear: “PERFECTING, EVANGELISTS, MIN ISTRY, APOSTLES, SAINTS, TEACH ERS, PROPHETS, UNITY, PASTORS, CHRIST, FAITH.” ) LESSON: Between these doors, ajar, we read “FIRST CHURCH.” It reminds me of the first church at Jerusalem, about which We read in Acts 2. What do you think should be on the inside of a church ?- “ Seats, a pulpit, and a musical instru ment.” Yes, John, most’ churches have such things, but a1,real church, has more than the things you have mentioned. As we open the d o o r s of this “F I R S T CHURCH,” I read, “Evangelists, pas tors, apostles, saints, teachers, unity, and faith.” The inside of this church reminds me of the words,, found ip Ephesians 4 ¡I l ls. As I read this text, you will notice that the words on the inside of this “ FIRST CHURCH” are found in the ..Scripture, “And he [the. Lord] •gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pas tors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the min istry, for the edifying ,of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, arid^of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto . the measiire of the1stature of the fulness of Christ.”

followed Him here were sorry to see Him go, but. they did not sit down alone and weep. Instead they gathered together and talked about their wonder ful Lord. Other people gathered around to listen. One day Peter was doing the talking, and so earnest was his .mes sage, given in the power of the Lord, that even those who had not known Jesus upon earth were touched. The Bible tells us three thousand souls were added to the church that day. That early church was a great church. We read three things, about its . mem bers: They continued “daily with one accord in the temple,” they ate “their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,” and they, were always "praising God.” This means they were faithful, they were contented, and they were thankful. Our memory- verse -says, “In the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.” Can you all sing? If you have a poor Voice, is there any other way in which you could praise God? Do you think-being faithful, contented, and thankful might be a good way in which to praise'-Him ?:' We read that when, the early church was living this way, “ the Lord added to the Church daily.” Do you think the Lord might add more people to the church today; if Christians lived more like-the early Church ? How do you think you might change your own life in order to make ' it more pleasing to God and more help ful to others ? Object Lesson ~ A n I nside S tory OBJECTS: Paper doors.
