6. Spiritual Adornment "Whose adorning, let it not be that outward adorning . , . But let it be the hidden man of the heart” (1 Pet. 3:3,4), , One of the fathers of the desert, seeing a female of loose morals arrayed in rich apparel; was moved to tears ahd confessed with sorrow that he had never taken so much pains to adorn his soul with faith and godliness as she to please the world. And I, too, my God, could weep to think' how much less diligent I have been to conform my walk and ways to Thy precepts and will than these dancers are to make their feet keep time to the music. —Gothold. The Light of His Justice “And now men see hot the bright light which is in the clouds” (Job 37:21). Let us be clear on this fact: The injustices of life are going to be righted. God has pledged Himself to that. Jus tice and judgment are the foundation of His throne, and nations as well as individuals are going to face things as they are, not as they want them to be, in the economy of God. Let us beware lest, in our shortsightedness, we are guilty of the sin of judging God. —J. H. Hunter. 7.

O mighty Master of the sea, Tliou art my Master, too! And Thou, all things, unto Thyself Art able to subdue— Thou blddest inner tumult cease; Thou keepest me “in perfect peace.” —T. O. Chisholm. He Meets the Need “I have called you friends; for all thing: that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you” (John 15:15). This is the deepest need of every human heart—to know Him. And no one but He can answer the cry . . . Andrew and John must ask the Lord Himself, “Where dwellest thou?” Jesus must Himself lead them to His own personal love . . . No one can introduce you to the heart of your lftver. It would be too sacred for others even to in trude. So Jesus only can lead you to the bosom of Jesus.—A. B. Simpson. 5.

1. Our Motive Power “ Ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you” (Acts 1:8). Had Pentecost been omitted from the divine counsels, it would have been like perfecting a costly machine and then failing to supply it with the necessary motive power, Pentecost is the power house of Christianity. Not until the descent of the Spirit on that memo rable day, was there heard the throb of power in the machinery, which God had perfected for human salvation. I—J. Oswald Sanders. ' Beating Out Wheat “And there came an angel of the Lord, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained unto Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon threshed wheat by the winepress, to hide it from the Midianites (Judg. 6: 11 ) . Gideon insists that he will have his food in spite of the enemy. He will not let them starve him, so he beats out wheat for his nourishment. Beloved, what Is our attitude on this important point? Do we insist that our souls must feast upon Him who is the Bread of Life? Are we nourishing them each day with Christ by the reading of His Word and communion with Him in prayer? —Selected. 3. Exhausting the Judgment “He hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” (2 Cor. 5:21). Here is a holy mystery, as deep and impenetrable as was the darkness that for' three hrt','t? enveloped the cross. Ei’“ V ~ ne A the sinner’s place, Jesus enaurecr the judgment that was against the sinner, even to being for saken of God. There was no mitigation of the judgment for Him, but because of who He was, the holy Son of God, He was able to endure and exhaust the judgment, and cry, “It is finished.” —J. T. Mawson. 4. The Dear Old Promise “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee” (Isa. 26:3). “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace Whose mind is stayed on thee.” I read the dear old promise o’er And ask, “Is this for me?” When troubles throng Without sur cease, Can God keep me in perfect peace? 2.
