The Cougars won their first home game of the series last Friday night with a 5-4 score. The first period belonged to the Cougars with three goals for Vankleek Hill scored during the first half of the period. Gatineau called a short timeout with the coach giving his players an on-ice lecture from the Visi- tors bench. After the break Volant assistant captain Julien Arruda scored the team’s first goal only to see another Vankleek Hill point added to the scoreboard thirty seconds later by Garrett Cunning. Scoring for Vankleek Hill in first period were Cunning and team captain Andy Lightle- Blais with two goals each. Helping Cunning with his goals were Malcolm Séguin, Brenden Easterbrook, and Bruno Laframboise. Assis- ting Lightle-Blais were Jacob Crete, Callum Nystrom, and Séguin. Arruda earned a hat trick for himself and two more goals for Gatineau in second period. With the Cougars leading 4-3 in third period Lightle-Blais, assisted by Séguin extended the lead by another point. Gatineau

The Vankleek Hill Cougars and the Gatineau-Hull Volant are hammering away at each in the NCJHL finals series. Gatineau leads the series two games to the Cougars’ one after the first three matches in the series. The Cougars home game last Friday saw Vankleek Hill charge ahead for a 4-1 lead at the end of the first inning, only to have the Volant make a comeback attempt in second period, with the game finishing in the Cougars’ favour by one point more on the scoreboard. Parmi la foule se trouvaient Francis Drouin député de Prescott-Russell-Cumberland et Mona Fortier député de Ottawa - Vanier - Gloucester et ancienne président du Conseil du Trésor, ainsi que Catherine McKenna, l’ancienne ministre fédérale de l’Environnement et du Changement climatique. McKenna a loué l’engagement de Mingarelli à redonner à la communauté dans laquelle elle a grandi. Mingarelli se présentent sous la bannière du premier ministre Mark Carney. Elle écrit actuellement un livre avec Forbes sur son parcours entrepreneurial jusqu’à présent. Federal Liberal candidate for Prescott-Russell-Cumberland Giovanna Mingarelli kicked off her campaign on Sunday, March 23, in her downtown Rockland office where she was joined by roughly 100 people, volunteers, family and friends. Included in the crowd were MP of Prescott-Russell-Cumberland, Francis Drouin and MP of Ottawa-Vanier-Gloucester and former president of the Treasury Board Mona Fortier, along with Catherine McKenna, the former federal minister of environment and climate change. McKenna praised Mingarelli for her commitment to giving back to the community she was raised in. Mingarelli is running under the banner of Prime Minister Mark Carney. Like the Liberal leader, Mingarelli is promoting the importance of building a strong local economy that supports all residents in Prescott-Russell-Cumberland, including for farmers and small businesses, in face of Trump’s unjust tariffs from the U.S. “I’m working to support our new Prime Minister and Liberal leader, Mark Carney, to keep Canada strong. Mingarelli grew up in Rockland and attended Holy Trinity Catholic Elementary School and Rockland District High School. Her first job at 14 was at the Rockland Golf Club, before starting her professional career on Parliament Hill, working for former Prime Minister Paul Martin. She has spent the last decade working in a multi-partisan capacity to advance issues related to women and youth’s economic and political empowerment. She is an award-winning technology entrepreneur and the owner of several businesses. Her business career includes communications consulting to organizations and governments striving to measure and showcase their positive impact. She is passionate about empowering people to take positive action online, including by championing their sovereign identity — which gives people ownership over their personal data online. She is currently writing a book with Forbes about her entrepreneurial journey to date. Over the next five weeks until election day on April 28, Mingarelli and her volunteers will be knocking on doors and meeting with voters across the Prescott-Russell- Cumberland riding.
