Give constructive feedback on the participants’ above explanations and ability to apply filler with the correct tools to fill pinholes and small defects in the surface of a wind turbine blade

TRAILING EDGE REPAIRS

The aim of the lesson is to give the participants the knowledge, skills and abilities to conduct a laminate repair on the trailing edge area of a wind turbine blade safely and in accordance with a work instruction.

NOTE:

Trailing edge repairs must be carried out in accordance with a blade manufacturer’s work instruction. Where these are not impossible to obtain, then the training provider shall create a work instruction.

After having successfully completed this lesson, the participants will be able to:

Take responsibility for conducting a laminate repair on the trailing edge area of a wind turbine blade safely and in accordance with a work instruction (Ability, intermediate level)

MINIMISE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH COMPOSITE FIBRE WORK

Learning objective:

The participants can act independently in applying the knowledge gained during the general safety lessons to the working environment to minimise the risks associated with composite repair work (Ability, intermediate level)

Training staff shall:

Continually assess and give feedback on the participants’ abi lity to apply the knowledge gained during the general safety module to the working environment to mitigate the risks associated with composite repair work

The participants shall:

Practice the ability to apply the knowledge gained during the general safety and chemical safety modules to their working environment by correctly selecting and using PPE appropriate to the task in hand and to work in a safe manner with the materials and tools required for each process

REPAIR TASK

Learning objective:

The participants can act independently in applying the knowledge gained during lesson 26 (laminate repairs) to the repair task (Ability, intermediate level)
