The Tully Collection Vol 01

This was truly one of the most extraordinary and humbling experiences of my life. While on safari at Singita, I had the rare chance to take part in a hands-on conservation initiative in Tanzania that forever changed how I see the world. In partnership with the Grumeti Fund, I joined a team of veterinarians and wildlife experts to collar six elephants in just two days—playing an active role in their protection. From holding an elephant’s trunk open so it could breathe while sedated, to scanning its body for poison arrows with a handheld metal detector, every moment was raw, real, and unforgettable. At one point, I even had my arm inside an elephant’s mouth, measuring its teeth—a moment so surreal I still can’t believe it happened. You can see the video on my Instagram, but truly, words don’t do it justice.

These GPS collars are essential. They allow the Grumeti team to track elephant movements and step in before conflicts arise—helping prevent devastating encounters with nearby farms. It’s a powerful example of how thoughtful conservation can protect both wildlife and communities.
