“ I can hear another sound.” This sound was farther away, and seemed to come out o f some tun nel. “ ------- P le e k ---------p le e k --------- pleek------- .” Duffy and Darla were frightened! A fter listening a little longer, Duffy finally whispered, “ It’s lonely and dark in here, Uncle Bill. I hear noises, but can’t see anything at all. May we please turn the lights back on ?” “ You may,” answered Uncle Bill, “ after I finish my story. What would you do i f the lights didn’t come back on and we were lost in this dark lonely cave?” “ Don’t say that!” exclaimed Darla. Uncle Bill continued his story. “ It certainly would be an awful thing to be lost in the dark, but do you know that many people are lost in the dark right now? The Bible says that everyone who is not a Christian is in darkness. They are lost, and the reason they are lost is because they don’t have Jesus in their hearts. God’s Word says that Jesus is the light o f the world. I f Jesus is in our hearts, we have a light, and we are no longer lost in darkness. Jesus can guide us at all times. “ Now we may turn on our lights,” he said. “ See how much better we feel.” Duffy and Darla quickly turned their lights on. “ Look !” shouted Duffy. “ That noise was only water falling from the r o o f!” “ Oh, Uncle B ill!” Darla ex claimed, “ we feel so much better with the lights o n !” “ Yes,” answered Uncle Bill, “ and every person feels so much better when he has Jesus in his heart.” Then he asked, “ Do you tell others about Jesus so they can have Him in their hearts, too?” “ God’s lesson fo r today taught us that we should,” answered Duffy. “ That’s right,” said Darla, “ and we will try to tell more friends about Jesus so they won’t be lost!” *Next month: Bats by Razor Blade Rock DU
