A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 9

Year 9 has had a wonderful final week of this half term. The Kindness Activity which was completed last week definitely made a lot of staff members smile. Their words were so heartfelt and demonstrated their enjoyment of school and their learning. We know that Year 9 students are excited for our upcoming Duke of Edinburgh expeditions as well as the Drop Down Day in July. Please can I ask that you ensure that you have read the email relating to Drop Down Day and filled in the relevant Google Form for your child(ren).

We are ending this half term with our fantastic epraise results. The top three performing forms are 9EMU on 2,493 points, 9PWA on 2,137 points and 9FCO, on 1,977 points. Keep up the hard work Year 9!

Congratulations also to the top epraise contributors from each form, Scarlett H (9EFR), Mia C (9EMU), Anastasiia M (9FCO), Sophie S (9FDO), Imogen H (9POR), Malaika M, (9PWA), Gabriella P (9SAN) and Ella R-J (9SSR). Well done! Please be aware that from next half term, Year 9 students will be directed to use the KS4 HUB for any issues including medical attention, missing chromebooks or any pastoral issues which may arise in the school day. Please can I ask that you speak to your child(ren) about this, so that they are aware of the expectations. We hope that this will be a positive experience in their first steps up to Key Stage 4.

Have a lovely break!

MRS MORTIMER, HEAD OF YEAR 9

BOOK OF THE MONTH

‘Things a Bright Girl Can Do’ by Sally Nicholls Set in the early twentieth century, this novel follows three brave young women as they all become involved in the Suffragette movement. I loved how Nicholls brought the time period to life, showing what it felt like to be a woman and girl during that turbulent time. But if historical novels aren’t usually your thing, don’t be put off. It feels really modern and fresh, exploring issues like class differences as the three main characters come from different backgrounds. There is also a beautiful love story between two of the characters. It has something for everyone!
