... X I’m responsible for is to keep in step with Him now. If I don’t lose step now, I’ll lose no victories later.” —J. T. Zamrazil. The Storm Test “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” (Rom. 8:35). The vine clings to the oak in the wildest gale. Storms may uproot the oak, but the vine still clings to it. Notice why this' is go. If the vine is on the opposite side of the tree from the storm, the tree is its protection; and if the vine is on the exposed side, the storm only presses it closer to the tree. In some of the storms of, life God intervenes and protects us, and in others He exposes us for the purpose of having us pressed more closely to Himself. Nothing can separate us from Him except ourselves. So let us cling closer to the One who is able to see us -through every storm of life. —Log of the Good Ship Grace. 6. For the King “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification” (1 Thess. 4:3). Paul means that the Christian is one who is set apart for God, set apart from all common use to a special service. Campbell Morgan has a fine illustration in one of his ad dresses, ; showing *the difference be tween the godless and the Christian man is jugt the difference between a hotel and Buckingham Palace. The hotel belongs to any one who will pay for it. Lust can hire it for Its immoral purposes, or benevolence can use it for its ministry of kindness; but Buckingham Palace i,s set apart only for the King. It is the home of the King. It cannot be hired- by the millionaire, and when the flag is flying you know the King is in resi dence.—J. A. Broadbelt.. , 5.

1. The Inner Sanctuary “A.nd he shall be for a sanctuary” (Isa. 8:14). There is a stillness in the Christian’s life: An inner stillness only known to him Who has so gladiy laid at Jesus’ feet His all, and now He reigns alone . within; Master of every motion, wish and plan, In stillness crowned, He rules su preme as King, And in that inner chamber of the heart Has made a little sanctuary within. —W. Spencer Walton. 2. The Sacred Key “ I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is, within my heart” (Psa. 40:8). Were we to seek God’s purpose in our living, we would never be fear ing -failure or monotony, or rebelling against .circumstances. For even the homely duties which demand our time can be done for the glory of God. As the sea captains of old fol lowed a star as they journeyed, so God’s purpose in our lives gives to us meaning, richness, and abundance that we can never know elsewhere. The secret of knowing God’s will is the simple yet sacred key of sur render.—Mrs. J. Edwin Hartill. 3. His Gardens “I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day” '(Isa. 27:3). Our hearts are gardens where the great Gardener wants to plant flowers swqet and fresh and pure. It is our part to submit these gardens to His care and ask Him to root up all the weeds that tend to choke the flowers, and to make and keep the soil rich and fertile, that in the sunshine of His love, and with the refreshing water of His Word, the seeds may grow, and thrive, and the gardens be beautiful places for Him to walk in. —Helen B. Webster.
