Redevelopment at Ryde 2023

The Ryde Hospital Redevelopment team has achieved a lot this year including:

within a shorter construction timeframe. While this option leads to the best outcome overall, it means that during construction there will be increased building activity onsite to progress the work. This may lead to more disruption and provide less space for operations onsite than was originally expected while work is underway. The executive and the redevelopment team are work- ing through the details of the revised staging plan and what it looks like for staff, patients, suppliers and the community. We will provide further infor- mation as the revised staging is developed.

Receiving our first planning approval in June

Submitting our second planning application Completing the early works onsite

• Completing and receiving approval for schematic and detailed design • Starting tender negotiations for the construction contract which we expect to confirm in early 2024 • Continued interaction with the community, most recently at the Granny Smith Festival in October. Early works have been important to prepare the hospi- tal for the new buildings and have included the demoli- tion of three buildings and the clearing of invasive weeds from the Blue Gum High Forest. It has been rewarding to see how the look and feel of the hospital has changed during this time. This year we also completed and received approval for schematic and detailed design. Detailed design refines the design, space and construction processes for the new hospital. To inform the functional design of the future redevelopment, our project user groups provided feedback to ensure the patient voice remains at the centre of the design. Project user groups are an integral part of the redevelopment and include community rep- resentation alongside staff and wider health representa- tives. The completed hospital design allowed us to pro- ceed with the procurement for the main works contrac- tor. The construction staging for the redevelopment is be- ing considered as part of the main works procurement process. Tender discussions have shown there is an opportunity to deliver the clinical service priorities

Next Steps for Redevelopment at Ryde

A competitive tender process for the construction contract is currently underway. As part of this pro- cess a construction staging program for the redevel- opment is being developed and a building contractor is expected to be appointed in 2024. We will share further information with staff, consum- ers and the community about construction impacts, staging and timelines following the appointment. We are looking forward to further progressing the Ryde Hospital Redevelopment in the year ahead.
