United States’ Imports of Flexo Printing Machinery After three years of growth, purchases abroad of flex- ographic printing machinery decreased by -7 percent to 1.3K units in 2024. In general, total imports indicated per- ceptible growth from 2013 to 2024: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1 percent over the last eleven years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the an- alyzed period. Based on 2024 figures, imports increased by +134.1 percent against 2020 indices. The most promi- nent rate of growth was recorded in 2023 when imports increased by 50 percent against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 1.4K units, and then fell in the following year. In value terms, flexographic printing machinery imports shrank markedly to $164M in 2024. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pat- tern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 31 percent. Over the period under review, im- ports reached the peak figure at $210M in 2023, and then fell markedly in the following year. Imports By Country In 2024, Germany (554 units) constituted the largest flex- ographic printing machinery supplier to the United States,
the previous year. This figure reflects the total revenues of producers and importers (excluding logistics costs, retail marketing costs, and retailers’ margins, which will be in- cluded in the final consumer price). Overall, consumption recorded a resilient expansion. Over the period under re- view, the market hit record highs at $199M in 2023, and then fell in the following year. United States’ Production of Flexo Printing Machinery In 2024, production of flexographic printing machin- ery in the United States stood at 979 units, therefore, re- mained relatively stable against 2023 figures. Over the period under review, production showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was re- corded in 2020 when the production volume increased by 0.9%. Over the period under review, production reached the peak volume at 980 units in 2022; however, from 2023 to 2024, production stood at a somewhat lower figure. In value terms, flexographic printing machinery pro- duction expanded significantly to $64M in 2024. The total output value increased at an average annual rate of +2.9% over the period from 2013 to 2024; the trend pattern re- mained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period.
