World Trade Organisation An introduction to international economic law, through an examination of the institutions and substantive law of the World Trade Organisation (WTO). The dispute settlement system is central to the WTO, and this module examines selected covered agreements through textual analysis and dispute reports. You can also take up to two modules from another subject area (excluding Oil, Gas and Mining Law). of tort related to human rights and medico- legal case law developments, and undertakes considerable research in the area of legal education. Susan McLaughlin Susan is a qualified barrister and solicitor, and spent 17 years working as a legal adviser before becoming an academic. Susan is a past Commonwealth Scholar, twice Scholar of Lincoln’s Inn, and has taught and trained extensively within universities, law firms, and industry. International Commercial Transactions Study the essential functional elements of any business-to-business contractual relationship, concluded across international borders in the so- called global village. International Sale of Goods Critically evaluate the law relating to contracts for the sale of goods across international borders, from the contrasting standpoints of buyer and seller. You’ll focus on the core legal components of international sale agreements under three distinct legal codes. Who will teach me? Alfonso Valero Alfonso is the Course Leader of our LLM programmes. Before joining Nottingham Law School , Alfonso was a practising lawyer, firstly in Spain and then as a solicitor in England. Alfonso teaches International Dispute Resolution, Sports Law, and International Commercial Transactions. He also teaches EU law in the undergraduate courses. His research interests are dispute resolution and sports law. Brian Harris Before becoming an academic, Brian worked for Burges Salmon (general commercial litigation), Clyde & Co (predominantly contentious shipping, insurance and international trade), and DLA (transactional and contentious practice in all aspects of international trade, including carriage and insurance), becoming a partner in 1994. Brian is module leader for two LLM modules – International Carriage of Goods Law, and Insurance Law and Regulation (International Trade and Finance Risks). John Hodgson John was formerly a solicitor in private practice, as a partner and consultant. He has written several journal articles in areas
