Gutgsell Water Resources Scholarships for Continuing Students
The Gutgsell Water Resources scholarship supports new and continuing students within the College of Natural Resources pursuing a degree in water resources, with a preference for those who have attended Stevens Point Area Senior High or have participated in water-focused research or similar activities with faculty or student groups. The Gutgsell Family Foundation was established in memory of Dorothy S. and J. Robert Gutgsell and their life-long dedication to supporting higher learning. It is because of the proven excellence within the UWSP CNR’s Water Resources program that the Foundation Directors have made this commitment to support undergraduate students pursue their education. Hans Schabel Summer Field Experience Scholarship
This scholarship was made possible by Professor Emeritus, Hans Schabel, who taught forestry at the UWSP College of Natural Resources from 1973 – 2006. Professor Schabel was one of the professors who helped build the Summer Field Experience in Germany, a program that has continued for more than 50 years. He also served as Director of International Resource Management. The original purpose of the scholarship, to support CNR students studying in Nicaragua was never realized because of ongoing political instability in Nicaragua.
