Beth, LPN
Rachel, RN Before enrolling at Sumner College I was actually attending another school that unexpectedly closed right before I was to graduate. I was fortunate enough to find Sumner College and finish my Practical Nursing program! Growing up I was always told I had a compassionate disposition. I had an opportunity to become a CNA which sparked my interest to do more. I knew I had to become a nurse! I love helping people to live their best life. I chose Sumner College because of the instant support I received after my school closed. I felt welcomed and I received kindness at every turn. I have always wanted to be a nurse. I am very close to my aunt who has been an amazing Nurse Practitioner for over 30 years, and I always felt I had a calling to nursing. Before attending Sumner College, I had just completed my studies from Boise State University, and was working as a nanny. I chose Sumner College’s ADN program because they were genuinely interested in educating me and really wanted me to attend. I was able to make some lifelong friends, and meet some wonderful instructors who taught and guided me in my journey to becoming a nurse. Thank you all for your kindness and dedication to the students! After graduating Sumner College, Rachel was employed as a Registered Nurse at a Hospital Beth was hired as a LPN at a Care Unit in Eugene, OR

So much more than a job It may sound cliché but it is true. A career taking care of cancer patients is a calling for most all of us who work in oncology. It’s much more than a job. Each of us has a unique story that brought us to Compass Oncology but those stories usually share common themes of care, compassion, and commitment.

increase my knowledge and skills to provide the best possible care to my patients as a CNA. I chose Sumner College because I had the opportunity to get into their Medical Assisting program even during a pandemic, as other schools were eliminating their seats. I also had the advantage of performing my clinicals in person, which was very beneficial to honing my skill set. I love the instructors and staff at Sumner College! Julianne, MA
Before attending Sumner College, I was working as a martial arts instructor, and working at the Portland airport so I could earn money for school. I have always enjoyed taking care of people, especially children. I chose to enroll in Sumner College’s Medical Assistant program because compared to other schools, I thought it was the best choice in my area. Eventually, I would like to continue on to RN and then BSN! Thank you to Sumner College for my training and helping me succeed!

Nardous, LPN
I chose to enroll in Sumner College’s Practical Nursing program because my duties as a CNA were limited. I wanted to advance my skills and responsibilities as a healthcare professional. Sumner College’s staff was very welcoming and the program was really quick. I appreciate how Sumner was able to adapt during a pandemic, with some expected struggles, but the school made certain the students were able to complete the program. I am very grateful they made sure I was able to get as much clinical experience as possible!
Nardous was employed as an LPN at a Portland care center

Bergen Campbell - Nursing Educator
I grew up in Indianapolis, IN, and moved to Utah for school. I met my husband at school in Saint George, UT. We have a six year old daughter named CiCi, and we moved to Portland to start a new adventure. He just graduated law school, and we were craving a change. So far, the pictures and research doesn’t do this place justice. I have been an RN for almost 4 years. My background is in cardiology, but I did spend some time on the inpatient neurorehab floor. I am so excited to get to know all of you, and thanks so much for being so welcoming and supportive. This place is starting to feel just like home. Corey Fitch - Financial Aid Representative I am originally from New Hampshire. My husband and I moved to Portland after getting married in 2018. Proud servant to my cat, Toby. I hold a bachelors in Accounting/Finance and have worked from accounting departments in small companies as well as global corporations, also consumer and commercial lending, and also was a stock broker in the financial service industry. I like numbers, but love the field of education. And prior to moving here, earned my masters in secondary education. Hi! My name is Casi Howard, and I will have the pleasure of joining the team. A little about myself, I have been married for almost 20 years, with two amazing children. I love to read, hike, hunt, forage, and cook. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone, and making the Sumner family my new home away from home! Casi Howard - Front Desk Administrative Assistant
Joshua Semrau - Accounting

Joshua really enjoys making confections such as marshmallows, brittles, toffee, and caramel and hopes to sell them at the farmers market in the future. He spends most of his free time making wire sculptures, listening to music, and being bossed around by his two cats Tara and Charlie.
