Remember that when Jehovah was re vealing the particulars concerning the Messiah which was to come that He must of necessity speak of Him in the third person, though it were Himself that was to be incarnated into human nature, for this was indeed to be a new creation as a God-man mediator and sacrifice, for sin. Since Jehovah and Christ were both the second person of the Trinity men were saved in Old Testament times, as in our day, by faith in God through the mediator between God and man, know ing little, or nothing perhaps of the theory of atonement by the shedding of blood, yet trusting in the Mediator. The word Jehovah occurs about 1600 times in the book of Psalms. You see why Christ’s ripest saints feast their souls on it. DOES JESUS CARE?
The following is from The Youth’s Companion, and is of special interest, referring to one of Dr. Torrey’s cam paigns: A celebrated singer volunteered dur ing the war to sing to British troops. Among the stories she tells of her ex periences, the following is in some re spects the most pathetic and inspiring. Very early after she volunteered she was singing at a big training camp in England. According to her custom, she invited the men to write their requests on slips of paper and place them upon the piano. Among the slips was one that read, “Will you please sing Does Jesus Care?” The lady was not familiar with the hymn, but she memorized the music and words and sang it. Although she shook hands with all the men in the largo hut as they went out, no one spoke to her about the hymn. Several months later she was singing at Chatham to a number of troops who were to leave for Prance the next morn ing. Among the slips of paper on the piano there appeared the question again, “Will you please sing Does "Jesus Care?” The lady immediately sang the comfort-
