their summer vacation evangelistic tour, eyes snapping, faces shining, step elas tic, 'every movement full of vigor and their voices ringing with joy notes as. they tell of victories for Christ during the weeks of their campaign. What a change has taken place even in their physical condition! They had done a heavy year’s work in the Bible Insti tute and were very tired, looked pale, and a few were really ill. I must confess to just a little feeling of hesitation about sending them out into the Severn heat, but after prayer and consultation we organized them into two bands and sent them forth. Now they have come back to us with hearts overflowing with joy, just as did some bands of preachers who were sent out by our Master many centuries ago. Their work in the school will have a new meaning to them dur ing the coming year, I am sure. God grant to each one of us such spiritual experiences as to make each new year’s work more enthusiastic, more joyous, more fruitful. I met one of the re turned students on the street, and as we walked along together the words flowed out in a perfect torrent as he repeated to me some of their experiences. .Saved and Saved Clean He was especially interested in a man of nearly sixty years of age who had been converted through and through. One day, some time after this man had given up his idols and had accepted Christ as his Saviour, our student, Mr. Kang, said to him: “Well, Mr. —------- , you are now saved by faith in Jesus, your sins are all forgiven, but you are still living in bondage.” “Bondage?” said the man in utter surprise, “What bondage?” “Why,” said Mr. Kang, “you are in bondage to that dirty habit of smoking.” ' “What! is smoking a sin?"* asked the man. “No,” said Mr. Kang, “I do not say that smoking is a sin, many very good people smoke, but it is a dirty habit all the same, and it makes a slave of a man. What would you think of a man who had his house all nicely whitewashed inside, and then built a smoky fire in the center of one of the rooms and got the nice clean walls

HOUSE TO HOUSE EVAN GELISM IN HUNAN DR. FRANK A. KELLER, SUPT. Once more our hearts have been made glad by the practical demonstration of the truly remarkable way in which God uses this plan of house-to-house evan gelism to accomplish three fundamental things. First, to lead men and women in large numbers out of idolatry into a living, saving faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Second, to inspire these new converts with a real enthusiasm for Bible study and prayer, and to teach them in a most practical way how to do both. Third, to develop the workers them selves, and make them eager and skil ful soul-winners. “Bringing Sheaves With Them” Our students have just returned from
