THE GROUND OF FAITH TRUE SANCTIFICATION “By the which will we are sanctified through ■ the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (Heb. 10:10). In this verse we have a two-fold truth, viz., we are:— 1. Sanctified by the will of God. 2. Sanctified by the work of Christ. The will of God is the source, the work of Christ the ground of our sancti fication. Sanctification is referred to in the Word of God undgr three aspects: 1. As an act done for us (1. Cor. 1:30). 2. As an aqt done to us (1 Pet. 1:2). 33. ^As'a work wrought in us (1 Thess. 5:23). The meaning of sanctification is to “separate” or “set apart,” never sinless perfection, or perfection in the flesh. Ac cepting Christ as our “sanctification,” we shall have “no confidence in the flesh,” and shall only boast of what we are in a risen and living Christ. We are sanctified: By the Father (Jude 1). In the Son (1 Cor. 1:2)) By the Holy Spirit (Rom. l’5:16). Therefore we are called “saints” or sanctified ones (1 Cor. 1:2). Vision—Heb. 11:1. Venture—Heb. 11:8. Victory—1 Jno. 5:4. F. S. SKtEPARD.
