days. He may be a sign for the nation as well as for their Messiah. Noah preached a hundred and twenty years without a convert. Jonah preached one day and made half a million. MONDAY, Dec. 13. Matt. 14:13-23. The Multitude Fed. Christ is the creator of all things animate and inanimate. Col. 1:16. Therefore He is also the Provider, giv ing to all their meat in due season. The feeding of the five thousand is an illus tration of the Creator functioning in behalf of the creature. He who causes the' harvest to ripen upon a thousand hillsides shows his ability to condense the process of a season into a few sec onds. This should strengthen the faith of every petitioner for daily bread. From whatever source the daily susten ance may come, God should be recog nized and thanked as the Giver. How can .the thoughtful recipient refrain from giving thanks as he sits down to the table, even though it presents but scanty fare! “Bread shall be given him, his waters shall be sure.” Is. 33: 16. TUESDAY, Dec. 14. Matt. 15:32-38. Compassion on the Multitude. In these days of stationary or di minishing incomes and the steadily in creasing cost of living, many of God’s people find great comfort in the assur ance of the Divine compassion and so licitude. Moreover, having spread their needs before God, they find that in some mysterious way which baffles analysis and explanation, emergencies are met, creditors are paid, difficulties are re moved, employment is provided, and in ten thousand unforeseen and unex pected ways the Heavenly Father shows that He is indeed E’l Shaddai, the God who is enough. Phil. 4:6 covers.every detail of daily life and human need, “In nothing be anxious, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanks giving let your requests be made known unto God.” WEDNESDAY, Dec. 15. 2 Kings 4: 38-44. Elisha’s Meal. The Old Testament contains many pictures of New Testament realities. A servant brings a lap full of wild gourds and shreds them into the pot to feed the sons of the prophets. They are not only non-nutritious, they are poison. The error is discovered just in time. The poison is neutralized by the meal.

FRIDAY, Dec. 10. Luke 12:27-34. The Promised Kingdom. One chief reason why we look for the second coming of Christ is because of a mis-governed world. Human govern ment has not been a complete success. Man in the flesh has failed under every test. From the tower of Babel to the last hour in human history, human gov ernment has givep the opportunity for pride, ambition and lust for power to vent itself. Class struggles succeed ra cial conflicts and the hour seems rapidly approaching when chaos shall reign among áll nations and world anarchy arrive. Mortal men cannot govern themselves and certainly can not gov ern the world. An immortal man is coming wjbo will govern and rule in righteousness and justice, and not until then will every social, civil, industrial and domestic problem be solved. A war- ridden, blood-stained earth awaits the coming of the Prince of Peace. SATURDAY, Dec. 11. Luke 13:22-30. The World-wide Kingdom. Other religions aré sectional and na tional. Christianity is cosmopolitan and universal. Christ is not only the Hebrew Messiah, He is the Saviour of the world. Inasmuch as the kingdom of Christ is to prevail under the whole heaven, the Gospel of the kingdom must be preached under the whole heaven. The church is an elect company taken out of every tribe and tongue and peo ple. Christ died for all regardless of their color or condition. God is no re specter of persons. He fashioneth their hearts alike. All men being sinners have the same needs and must be saved in the same way. All distinctions of caste, all national barriers, are broken down and in Christ there is neither bar barian, Scythian, bond nor free, Christ is all and in all. SUNDAY, Dec. 12. Is. 62:6-i2. Proclaiming the Kingdom. After the Jews have accepted Jesus of Nazareth as their Messiah and be come converted, they will be a nation, of evangelists. They will be able to evangelize the world in an incredibly short space of time, sinee they are al ready inhabiting every zone and speak ing every language. Imagine the conse quences of turning a million Pauls loose at once updh a world of sinners! Jo nah’s experience at Nineveh, after his death and resurrection, may be a pic ture and parable of Israel in the last
