price for profit
ADDING IT UP So now you have a basic way of calculating your Price List for screen-printing decoration. You are going to have to play around with the numbers to get them to work for you. Change the variables in the formulas until the math is dialed into how you want to price jobs for your business. Most shops have two to four Price Lists for different business models they use. The great thing is that this is using your shop’s costs, efficiencies, and real data to calculate the starting point for each Price List . It isn’t mumbo jumbo or some poor schmuck’s pricing you stole from the internet.
But what now?
The rest of the Cost Plus Pricing Model is using the shirt cost. After all, you’ll need to quote someone, right?
There are plenty of theories and suggestions on what to do with that idea. Some shops only mark up the cost of the blank by 30%. Other shops I know double the cost. Even others have different percentages based on what type of garment they are using. Here’s the deal. There isn’t a right or wrong answer. It’s what works for you. The goal should be to mark up the blank as much as you possibly can. After all, that’s why you are in business. To make money. Also, there are other charges that get thrown into the quoting process too. Some shops charge $15 per screen. Other’s might charge $25. Some don’t charge for screens at all. Then there are other extras like changing out the neck labels, hangtagging or polybagging the shirts, and other order add-ons that you might encounter.
