see Him as He is. There also you shall serve Him continually with praise, with shouting, and thanksgiving, whom you de sired to serve in the world, though with much difficulty, because of the infirmity of your flesh. There your eyes shall be de lighted with seeing, and your ears with hearing the pleasant voice of the Mighty One.— J o h n B u n y a n . DECEMBER 10 Praise, Much Praise, More Praise! “I will greatly praise the Lord with my mouth; yea, I will praise him among the multitude” (Psa. 109:30). . Many times have the sons of God re joiced since that memorable day when God first laid the corner stones of earth. When Christ was born, “suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God.” When a soul is saved, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God. When Christ takes the sealed book from the Father, all heaven will break loose with one great magnificat. We wonder whether the lips of the saints are filled enough with praise. “Praise glorifieth God.” , Let saints waft songs of praise unto the skies, Let hymns of gladness ever upward rise; The Greeks had a foot race in which speed and endurance were not the only tests. Each man at the start was given a lighted torch, and the laurel wreath was for the one who came in first “with his torch alight.” Success in life is not in merely getting there, but more important still, in keeping the light of the gospel burning in our hurrying souls. If we take time to be holy we will get there, and in this case the less hurry, the better speed. If our torch was lighted at Calvary, and we keep it burning in the soul, then when we cross the goal of the pearly gates, with our torch alight, the laurel of eternal life will be ours. And here “not to the strong is the battle, nor to the swift is the race; but to the true and the faithful victory is prom-f.' ised through grace.” —Sunday School Worker. DECEMBER 12 Abundant Provision “For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily” (Col. 2:9). God took His glory, and beauty, and help, and put it down on the level of hu man ignorance and helplessness. He just put it all in the mirror, Jesus Christ, and said, “Look!” Is there anything in God you need? There it is in miniature. And then He puts it in your hand, and says it is yours. He says [in effect], “I have put in Jesus all I am, and now I give Him to you, so that you can claim Him for your own; so that you can feel that Christ is all Let all the hosts of heaven sing, And all the world its praises bring To God most high. —R. E. N eighbour . DECEMBER 11 The Lighted Torch "Let us run with patience the race that is set 'before us” (Heb. 12:1).

Let us be happy in the thought that in cleaving to Him we shall enjoy all the brightness and the joy of His light. How happy one is to belong to Him, and in His light to see light! How brilliant and glo rious is this light to those who are from home, awaiting the rising of the Morning Star, and the coming of this precious Sav iour, who will set them in heaven as the rays of His glory, and the jewels of His crown, as the intelligent sharers of His glory, as the bride of His heart! This Star has already risen in our hearts; may it not grow dim there!—J. N. D. DECEMBER 8 The Lover of My Soul “IVhom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet be -1 lieving, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory” (1 Pet. 1:8). There was a young girl who lived a very beautiful life of patience, and many won dered what was the secret of her nature. One day in confidence she allowed a com panion to open the locket which she wore around her neck, and printed inside the locket was the secret of the girl’s life. It was in the words, “Whom having not seen, ye love.” She loved some one very much, and that Some One was Jesus. DECEMBER 9 Come Quickly! “Whom I shall see for myself, and mine eyes shall behold” (Job 19:27).
