wheel lost traction, causing him to be high sided sending him 10ft in the air and bringing him down on his hip. “I heard the crack when I landed,” he says. Nevertheless, he thought he had a dead leg to begin with but he says, “I’ve now got a plate in my thigh, four bolts and a big pin through to my hip.” At the first meet of the CB500 season, which took place on 13-14 April at Melville Motor Club 20 miles from Edinburgh, Colvin and Andy flew the flag for Pirtek and made respectable finish times, especially given Andy’s time out of the saddle since his accident. Andy says, “It is great to be back on the bike, trying to get up to Colvin’s pace will not be easy but we will give it a go.” Colvin says, “The weekend was a bit cold for everyone; I definitely enjoyed it and it was great to see so many people out cheering us on. They have already aired The Racer, following fellow rider Jodie Chalk’s bid to be Scotland’s first female CB500 champion in 2018. This can be seen on BBC iPlayer until 25 May.
