Although he didn’t score in the final race, it was still a strong start with the 330i M Sport. “We have shown we have some serious speed in the car this weekend and it’s great to get the first win for the 330i M Sport,” he said. “That was the dream coming into Brands Hatch, although we didn’t know if it was something we could realistically do. “I’m confident that with this car, we’ll be right in contention when we come back to Brands Hatch later in the year.”

Fourth quickest overall and lapping quicker than he had in the 125i M Sport with which he secured four race wins across the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Andrew was left feeling confident about his chances as the clock ticked down to the first three races of the year. “The performance we have seen from the car so far has been very promising,” he said. “To be fourth quickest in the season launch test was a great start and I immediately felt comfortable behind the wheel; the car felt like my own right away. “We’ve got to keep our feet on the ground in the early rounds as we are still relatively untested compared to most of the teams. We have to stay out trouble, consider the long game and pick up plenty of points.” Staying out of trouble was the aim of the game in the first race of the year back at Brands Hatch, with mixed circuit conditions adding a fresh challenge to a race where Andrew finished in 15th place.
