Master Disconnect Switches For many years racing associations have required master discon- nect switches. These very simple switches are either rotary style or push/pull design, mounted in the rear of the vehicle for easy access in case of an accident. Over the years other uses for the master disconnect switch have evolved, as well as the complexity of these switches. The popularity of motor homes manufactured with a large array of electronic devices, all taxing the battery system when parked, are perfect examples of disconnect switches being used in non-racing applications. Even though these vehicles have auxiliary batteries, the ability to cut power from the main battery was a great ¿WIRUPDVWHUGLVFRQQHFWVZLWFKHV0DQ\DXWRHQWKXVLDVWVKDYHVKRZ cars or street “performance vehicles” that are stored more than they are driven.
