NPGEA 2016 winners PROPONENTS OF the very best national payroll giving schemes were recognised at the National Payroll Giving Excellence Awards which were held on 16 November at St Martins In-The- Fields, London. The Awards were presented by Rob Wilson, the minister for civil society, and Adam Bryan, director of partnerships at the Institute of Fundraising. The Awards are designed to reward innovation and promotional excellence as well as sustained

effort to grow payroll giving schemes. Mervi Slade, chair of the Institute of

Fundraising’s payroll giving special interest group, said “This year we have had more entries than ever before. Next year we will celebrate thirty years of payroll giving. The creativity demonstrated in submissions and the will to effectively launch payroll giving schemes as well as to drive uptake bodes well for the future of the sector. “We also owe a great debt to our sponsors without whom this event would not be possible. We have had generous support from: CAF; Charitable Giving; Charities Trust; Giving Force; Geared for Giving, APGO and StC Payroll Giving.” Rob Wilson said “Today’s awards are well-deserved and a tribute to the fantastic work of so many to encourage payroll giving. Through their commitment, generosity and skill, these companies, organisations and individuals are helping our charities to continue their vital work. I hope others will be inspired and follow their great example, helping us to create a Britain that works for everyone.” Adam Bryan said “Payroll giving is a really important source of funding for charities raising over £120 million every year for the causes people support. People donating through payroll giving do so on a regular monthly basis giving charities the long-term support and suitability they need to plan for the future. “This year’s Award winners do a great job in connecting their staff to the causes they care passionately about. We want to see many more employers emulating the best in class who have won awards this afternoon.” The winners: ● Best Overall Campaign – Mediterranean Shipping Company ● Corporate Champion – Ian Yates, UK Region Admin Manager at Costco ● Fundraiser of the Year – Wendy Tapping, from Hands On Payroll Giving ● Best Civil Society Employer – CRUK (highly commended: Tenovus) ● Best Government & Public Sector Employer – HMRC (highly commended: Northern Ireland Civic Service, and Network Rail) ● Most Innovative Campaign (Large Employer) – Costco (highly commended: EE and Moy Park) ● Most Innovative Campaign (Medium Employer) – Arriva London The winners with Rob Wilson (centre)
