CROWDS Nothing is better than playing a packed club. The interaction between a good DJ and the crowd is priceless. You have the attention of a large group of people; you can control their actions. It's an adrenaline rush like nothing else. If you're a DJ that takes risks and plays records that people might not be familiar with, it's fantastic to see that crowd response. Your only job in a club is to play great music, and when you have a welcoming crowd, it makes a world of a difference. “THE LIST” I've seen some DJ guest lists. They can be huge. I'm proud of the clubs that don't ask artists to trim them back. What clubs may or may not consider is that while your 15 friends aren't paying the cover charge, they're all still probably spending R500 a pop at the bar.

But you look like a champ when you allow them to say "I'm on the list.“

IT’S BETTER THAN WORKING The "9 to 5" lifestyle is downright boring. Flat people and flat conversations. Annoying co- workers. Responsibility. All of that goes away when you're a DJ. You set your own schedule, make music wherever and whenever you wish, and it's a loose environment. People are there because they want to have FUN. Sure, there are some serious annoyances to being a DJ, but nothing is more annoying than going to a job that you aren't passionate about. DJs don't have those problems.

Think about it: you get to see the world (or, at least major parts of your city's nightlife scene), and get paid to play music that you love!
