WHERE ARE YOU SPENDING VALENTINE’S DAY? 5 OF MY TOP RESTAURANT PICKS
Rose’s Luxury Washington, D.C.
Romantic evenings, red roses, sweetheart candies, and thoughtful cards — Valentine’s Day is here. This month, we celebrate love and not just the love among partners, but the love we have for our friends, family, and special individuals in our lives. Among those we hold dear here at Malloy Law are you: our valued clients. Without your trust and faith in us, we would not be able to pursue a career we love. Serving our clients and ensuring their well-being is our passion and purpose. This Valentine’s Day, we want to share some of our favorite date night locations in the DMV area. Whether you have plans on the 14th or are heading out a few days before or a few nights after Valentine’s Day, here are some excellent restaurant suggestions — just be sure to make a reservation! Morton’s The Steakhouse Bethesda, Maryland Nestled in the heart of my hometown, Bethesda, Maryland, is the luxurious chain Morton’s The Steakhouse. If you’re looking to go all out this Valentine’s Day, Morton’s is the spot! For top-of-the-line steaks, seafood, cocktails, and desserts and a chic atmosphere, it’s a great location to celebrate love. Let me know how you like their steaks — they don’t disappoint! Fogo de Chao Brazilian Steakhouse Washington, D.C. Have you ever tried one of those all-you-can-eat Brazilian steakhouses? This location, near Ford’s Theatre in Washington, D.C., features a variety of meats, carved tableside, and an extensive salad bar with a variety of selections. I recommend you arrive hungry for steak, chicken, lamb, and pork! Don’t forget to save room for dessert, too!
In a dreamy, converted townhouse, this eclectic restaurant is to die for! They serve up the best New American bites with great service, and the atmosphere is dreamy and romantic. Here, you’ll really want to save room for dessert because as their menu says, their “slightly-ridiculously-sized desserts” serve 2.9 people. Even if you don’t check this one out for Valentine’s Day, be sure to add it to your “must try” list! The Salt Line Washington, D.C. In Dock 79, The Salt Line is the best spot around for seafood! This seafood house features the best New England and Chesapeake food, and the views from the riverside patio are amazing. Don’t forget to try out their raw bar — the oysters are out of this world.
The Melting Pot Reston, Virginia
At the Melting Pot, treat your loved one(s) to a great three-course meal of cheese fondue, dinner fondue, and chocolate fondue, then
add in a delightful cocktail (or two)! With romantic vibes, friendly service, and delicious food, you can never go wrong. Be sure to arrive hungry!
From all of us here at Mallow Law Offices, happy Valentine’s Day! Cheers!

The coldest months of the year are here — bring on the snowball fights, snow angels, skiing, snowboarding, and ice skating! Snow and ice make for tons of fun outdoors, but they also can be quite dangerous for pedestrians if you aren’t careful! In these winter months, here are some tips to stay safe! Be seen. In rain, fog, smog, and snow, visibility can be compromised. That’s why it’s important to ensure you can be seen by drivers, motorcyclists, bicyclists, and other pedestrians. If you have bright clothing, be sure to wear it to make yourself stand out in harsh winter weather. Adding bright reflective tape to your clothing is also another great option! Stay off the phone. Looking down while texting or browsing through your phone is one of the most dangerous things you can do while walking — even doing this in the comfort of your own home can lead you to trip over your coffee table or rug! However, being distracted by your phone while walking through town can be extremely dangerous. Remember, your phone can ALWAYS wait! PUTTING SAFETY FIRST THIS WINTER BABY, IT’S COLD OUTSIDE
5 Feel- Good Movies
Are you stuck in a TV rut and starting to feel down in the dumps? (Thanks, seasonal depression.) If so, check out one of these heartwarming movies for a pick-me-up. 1. ‘Rescued by Ruby’ — If your family loves dogs, this kid-friendly flick will be a real crowd-pleaser. It stars a pup named Ruby, who starts life as a shelter dog. After a state trooper rescues her, she becomes a search-and-rescue worker who finds and saves people. A true story inspired the uplifting tale, and according to some reviews, you may want to have tissues ready. 2. ‘Yes Day’ — Imagine spending an entire day saying “yes” to everything your kids requested. Congratulations: You’ve stepped into the plot of “Yes Day”! In this film, parents Alison and Carlos go along with their kids’ wildest desires and watch family bonding magic unfold. The Raising Children Network recommends this movie for adults and older kids only. 3. ‘Chickenhare and the Hamster of Darkness’ — The plot of this animated movie is as creative as its title! It follows a cartoon hero named Chickenhare, who is 50% rabbit, 50% bird, and 100% confused about his place in the world. He’s also on a quest with friends to defeat his evil uncle before it’s too late. Think of the film as a funny, adventurous, family-friendly take on the classic tale “The Ugly Duckling.” 4. ‘Dumplin’ ’ — Mashable called “Dumplin’” “the definition of sweet.” The movie stars Rosie (played by Jennifer Aniston) as a pageant- obsessed former beauty queen whose daughter, Willowdean, doesn’t fit conventional beauty standards. When Willowdean enters her mom’s pageant in a protest complete with dancing and Dolly Parton tunes, she sparks a small-town revolution. This movie is recommended for children ages 13 and up. To Chase Away the Blues
Take a Break
5. ‘We Can Be Heroes’ — Since its release in 2020, this superhero movie has quickly become a family favorite. The story opens with an aliens-versus-superheroes showdown, and when the aliens win and take the heroes hostage, their kids come to the rescue. As the title implies, the film will leave you feeling like you can be a hero, too.

KNOW YOUR CRUISE ETIQUETTE BEFORE SETTING SAIL All Aboard!
After a slump in 2020 and 2021, cruises are back in a big way. If you’re planning your first onboard adventure — or it’s been a while since you last set sail — now is the time to brush up on your cruise ship etiquette. Every passenger should read their cruise line’s policies to ensure they know all the specifics before climbing aboard. In the meantime, we’ve listed some of the most essential do’s and don’ts for the savvy traveler. Know what to wear. Some cruise lines aim for a fancy atmosphere, while others prefer a casual approach. Ideally, review the dress policy before you book your trip. Bring at least one formal outfit in your luggage for dinner, which tends to have an upscale vibe. The rest of your cruise wear should be casual but tasteful, leaving you looking put together. Most importantly, don’t overpack — the stateroom is smaller than you think. Don’t be a chair hog. Everyone wants a prime spot on the sundeck, but you’ve got to rise early in the morning to get one. That’s fine if you can manage it, but “saving” a seat by putting a towel on it and then wandering away for breakfast or a mani-pedi is the best way to get on your fellow travelers’ bad side. Your cruise may also have a policy against it. Going to the bathroom is one thing; you’re only human. Otherwise, if you want the seat, stay in it. Be on time. Treat your cruise ship like an airplane — if you’re not on time, it’s probably leaving without you. And if you are lucky enough to have the ocean liner wait, your fellow passengers won’t look
Wear proper shoes. During winter, ice, especially black ice, is dangerous. Black ice is a thin and usually very transparent sheet of ice that coats
the surfaces of many roads, sidewalks, parking lots, and paths during winter months when temperatures fall below freezing. On top of remembering that black ice can be anywhere and isn’t always visible, be sure to wear proper footwear, ideal for snow, ice, and slippery surfaces. This winter, it’s important to put your safety first! For more information on black ice and our top safety tips, check out our blog post by scanning the QR code!

at you kindly. Set your watch to ship time (not local time) and prepare to be back an hour before the deadline. That way, if you happen to be late, you’ll still be on time. You may miss out on an extra drink or souvenir shop, but nothing will ruin your cruise faster than being left behind at the dock.

It’s the Month of Purification

PURIFYING YOUR MENTAL HEADSPACE CLEANING UP
Did you know the month of February is known as the ancient month of purification? In Rome, in preparation for spring, purification festivals were often held to get ready for the changing of seasons and the rebirth that accompanies spring. In the spirit of the month of purification, especially after a busy and eventful holiday season, it’s a great time to declutter and purify your mind. Here are some tips to help you tidy up your mental headspace! Be present and mindful. Do you always give your full attention to those around you? Or do you find yourself checking your email at the dinner table or taking conference calls in the car with your kids on the way to school? It happens to the best of us, but prioritizing time spent with family and friends and eliminating distractions during these interactions can help to reboot and refresh your mind. Avoid multitasking. While it’s great to accomplish more than one task at a time and check multiple items
off your checklist, multitasking may leave certain things not done to the best of your ability, and it can be stressful, too! Instead of focusing on too many things at once, take your daily to-dos one step at a time. Keep a journal. In the hustle and bustle of our busy lives, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and mentally spent. To help get rid of mental clutter, write it out. The next time you have too much going on at once upstairs, grab a pen and some paper and list out your thoughts — then let it go. Not only will you feel much more refreshed, but it’s a great way to log and track your ideas, feelings, and thoughts. Do something you love. At the end of a busy, mentally taxing day, make some time for yourself and something you love and enjoy. If your favorite hobby is painting, grab a paintbrush and a canvas and get busy. If you enjoy working out, hit the gym. No matter what it is that helps to relieve some stress and take your mind off of your obligations, get out and do it!
