in the flesh, but they crucified Him on the Cross. Think of the untold numbers of crimes of passion which the night of sin has known. But there is a day coming when the child of God can go home. There will be no night there because Christ w ill be there and in Him there is no darkness at all. We are told to cast off the works of darkness but there are all too’ many Christians who, like Lot, want to cast their tents toward Sodom and yet be close enough to God that they may have heaven’s prize. How can such hear the voice of the Saviour say, “Well done thou good and faithful servant?” We are reminded that we are not to be conformed to this world — that we are to pattern ourselves after the de signs of this world. Once we were liv ing as the people of the world, but now that we have accepted Christ as our Saviour our union is with Him and we are to live as “children of Light.” We are always trying to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. Have you put on the armour of light? Then read Ephesians 6 and find the provi sions which the Spirit of God has made possible so that you may be able to defeat the temptations of the devil. In verse 12 we find that armour is mentioned, and in verse 14 clothing is brought to our attention. Both are essential to the Christian who was wakened out of a lethargy which has so gripped the world today. The armour is for protection, the clothing is for perfection. The armour is for defense, the clothing is for offense, the armour speaks of the ability we have as soldiers in the Christian warfare, the clothing of the attributes we have as saints taking on the very nature of our Lord. The day of Christ’s return is about to dawn, my Christian friend. Has the opiate of this world so drugged your life that you have become insensi tive to the signs of the times? Listen, “the night is far spent the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness and let us put on the armour of light.”
Epistles of Jude, II Peter, and II Timothy 'will make helpful reading here. With such facts at His command, the Spirit of God caused the Apostle Paul to write to Christians of every age, especially the one in which we live. He gave us this passage, “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to wake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we first believed” (Romans 13:11). Christian citizenship is doubtless an odd theme for these days previous to this seasonal holiday — however, we have felt that the times are so urgent, that we must bring this series to your attention. As you turn to Romans 13:11 may I make clear to you that while sleep of the soul is never taught in the Word of God. yet here a sleep of the spirit is indicated. Catch the message — for the Lord Jesus speaks of the fact that while the children of God slept, the enemy came in. While God’s children have slept or not been mindful, many key radio stations across the country have removed all religious programs from their schedule. Unfortunately, there are few stations, relatively speak ing, that will carry Christian programs. Also, in California, while Christians slept, the Bible was taken from the classroom. Books on evolution and the communist wav . of life still remain, but the Bible has been removed—-the only Book which is able to make one wise unto salvation. May God help us to waken from our sleep! From Wil liam’s translation, Ephesians 5:14-16 we read, “So you must be very careful how you live, not thoughtlessly but thoughtfully, and continue to make the most of your opportunities for the times are evil.” Verse 12 of Romans 13 reminds us of this fact, “The night is far spent . . . let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of. light.” Ever since the sin and fall of Adam the world has always been dark. There was a brief moment when the Son of God came, incarnate
