not fear. The worst thing a commu nist can do is to destroy the body; he cannot touch the soul. The Lord Jesus said, “Fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell?’ 4c 1c 1c "Watch whatmolds your youngster, for theaverage child spends as much time on television in his first sixteen years as he does in school." * , * * "Above The Clouds" Like great gray birds of doom above our plane, The dark clouds threatened, broke in deluge, poured Against the windows blinding sheets of rain. Ominous, was the. sky, but still we soared. And then a sudden miracle of light: The sun in all its glory, golden, warm; And far below, a sea of soft clouds, white A s driven snow. W e flew above the storm. On God's side, all our clouds must look like these. What seems to us so sinister and grim— The tears, the tests, the trials and tragedies— Unfold as something beautiful to Him. He knows what wonder waits beyond earth's strife. Ride high with Him, above the storms of life! — Helen Frazee-Bower * * "A n upright man can never be a downright failure." ★ * * SOME YEARSAGO before we had air conditioning on trains, a young man was crossing the continent to meet his sweetheart. At the end of his journey they were to be married. The trip was dusty and dirty. Fre quently Tie would go to the wash room and bathe his face and hands. The fact that he did it so often rather became a joke with some of the passengers. They finally asked him why he bathed his hands and face so often, why not wait until just before the end of the trip, as he would still arrive there just as clean. The young man smiled and replied, “Yes, that is probably true, but you see, I want to go clean all the way!’ Let believers apply this to their spiritual lives along life’s journey for “If we confess our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all un righteousness.”

RAD IO o r WIRELESS CO M M U N IC A TION are wonderful, to be sure — but the Bible spoke of wireless mes sages more than 3000 years ago! The Psalmist declares, “This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and saved him out of all his trou bles.” If you are going through a difficulty in life today, why not use the first resource of the Christian —• prayer? Your message goes straight to the Throne of the Almighty God, without an intercessor, through the power of the Holy Spirit. * "The one who has learned the secret of walking with God doesn't have to advertise his troubles." * "How Do You Begin Your Day?" When you woke from sleep this morn ing, Though the hour was rather late, Did you stop to speak with Jesus, And His benedictions await? Did you thank Him for His mercy. For His care through all the night, That no evil had befallen, That no tears now dim your sight? Did you ask Him for the blessing Of His presence through the day, For H is leading safely onward, For H is guiding lest you'd stray? Did you tell Him that you'd gladly Go wherever He should lead; That you'd try to do H is bidding, Helping every soul in need? If you go without these blessings A s you start another day, Be assured your strength will fail you, * * * * And you'll faint along the way. O, live closer to the Master; For unless you're very near, Words of Jove He whispers to you W ill not reach your listening ear. it "The feMow with the smallestmind is usually the one most willing to give someone a piece of it." WORKERS A T THE A TOM IC ENERGY COMM ISSION are telling the story which grew out of a meeting of nu clear scientists in Las Vegas. One of them had been spending the greater part of his time gambling reckless ly. His colleagues declared, that they were shocked at the way in which he was throwing away his money at the gambling table. They comment ed that "he is acting as if there were no tomorrow.” One of his colleagues expressed in a tone of shock, “You don’t suppose that he knows some thing that we do notP’ This may be an apocryphal story, but it does show that everyone, even our top nuclear scientists are con cerned about what is going to hap pen tomorrow. "The surest way to get a church on its feet is to first get it on its knees." * * * THE NEW YORK T IMES carried an interesting article concerning the increasing number of earthquakes which are being felt around the world. We quote them, “Ten or more major earthquakes now shake the earth every twelve months, Al though destructive temblors are rel atively few in number, small ones are common everyday occurences. It is estimated that in all, a million shocks have taken place this past year?’ When the disciples asked the Lord, “What shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the age?”—Jesus answered, “There shall be earthquakes in divers (different kinds of) places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.” * "W e serve God by the measure of our faith. How much are you willing to trust H im ?" * * What though He tarries long? What though the triumph song Is still delayed? Thou hast His promise sure, And that is all secure; Be not afraid! Be not afraid! Be still! Be still! Impatient heart, be still! M y anxious heart, be still! Watch, work, and pray; and then It will not matter when Thy Lord shall come. At midnight or at noon; He cannot come too soon To take thee home; to take thee home. Be still! Be still! M y anxious heart, be still! " It takes about 3000 bolts to hold an automobile together, and only one nut to scatter it all over the high way." * W H A T ABOUT THE N EW YEAR? Have you evaluated your life recently? Have you been satisfied with the amount of time spent in reading the Bible and in prayer? Have you been content that every opportunity to witness to those about you for Christ has been taken? In our own strength, it would be impossible to keep resolutions and vows. Perhaps it is better to re frain from making them unless we face them realistically, in the power which Christ alone gives through the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. Then, only, can we say assuredly, “I can do all things Christ which strengenefh me!” * * * * * * * * "Be Still" Impatient heart, be still!
