What’s happening? Man suddenly wonders. We didn’t plan it this way! These terrible things can’t be happening . . . Not in our nation, our world, in our day! Why, we’re preaching a new “ social gospel, Designed to please everyone. We’ve been careful to make it appealing . . . No more blood, no more cross, or God’s Son! And we’re building our own great Utopia! We’re the masters o f all we survey. Why, conditiofts have never been better . . . OR WORSE! . . . than they are today. Everyone has complete freedom To live in the way he sees best. . . Yet we’re moving in different directions! . What’s lacking? (For we’ve failed the test!) Oh, my friend . . . I can tell you what’s missing. It’s God! . . for you say that He’s dead! You don’t need Him; hence He’s a fable; As worthless as though made of lead. So, you carefully change all your history; Blot out every hint of Him there; Forget why this country was founded; View with disdain truths once held dear! No more God in our Pledge o f Allegiance; No more Bibles or prayers in our schools; No more “ In God We Trust” as our motto . . . Oh, poor misguided, self-righteous fools! Do you think by denying your Maker He’ll simply cease to exist? Like a troublesome Conscience not wanted: An Acquaintance Who’ll never be missed? And you wonder about all your troubles: Your moral decay, lawlessness! You’ve brought all this sorrow upon you: You’ve reaped what you’ve sown! No more . . . no less! Now there’s only one course left before you: Seek the Father before it’s too late! For Jehovah-Elohim will judge you: With His Son, He’ll determine your fate!

One summer evening some years ago, our train stopped at Lake Ronkonkama, on beautiful Long Island. From the station platform came the clear tones of a country lad, “Water lilies, water lilies, a dime a bunch, they’ll open fair and sweet in the morning!” We could not refrain from taking a bunch home with us. Next morning, there they were, little floating palaces of rare beauty, each with an ivory throne, a crown of gold, and an altar of incense. When our beloved in the Lord leave us, and depart to be with Christ, which is very far better, the house of the body in which they lived, like the water lilies, sleeps through the night. In the glad morning of our Saviour’s return, God’s sleeping flowers will awaken, clothed in fadeless beauty; whiter than the water lily’s robe, their glistening garments; brighter than the water lily’s gold, their crown o f L ife ; sweeter than the water lily’s breath, the fragrance o f their praises; “ fair and sweet in the morning.” “ Sermons in stones and running brooks,” surely, William Shakespeare; also in the water lilies of a country lad, “They’ll open fair and sweet in the morning.” “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be : but we know that when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is!” At the return of this Easter season, let us thank God from our hearts that our eternal destiny is with Him Who said: “ I am the resurrection and the Life!” Be cause He lives, we too shall live, who have accepted Him as our Saviour and Lord. The storm clouds are gathering above us, While old earth continues to spin: Faster, and faster, and faster, Dizzy with power and sin! Violence, hatred, destruction; LSD, Hippies, “ free” love; Marching, and burning, and looting; Under the guise of a dove.
