Walking Tour: Contemporary Galleries of New York City Explore the hottest galleries within Tribeca, Chelsea, or the Upper East Side and enjoy a day of beautiful art and architecture. Tour routes are carefully curated and designed to highlight the best selection of what is currently on display in any of the neighborhood galleries, making each trip in this series unique. Class meeting location will be provided via email one week prior to the tour. RIVA BLUMENFELD is an art educator at the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum, focusing on school, family and access groups for 14 years. Besides the museums, Blumenfeld conducts art tours for groups. Previously she owned a gallery in Soho that specialized in contemporary American art. Walking Tour: Chinatown's Burgeoning Art Scene Chinatown is emerging as Manhattan's hottest new art scene in NYC. It is also a great place for a few quick food purchases and to explore a fragrance gallery. This tour's unique blend of art, culture, and culinary delights in the heart of Chinatown offers a fantastic opportunity to acquire art from young artists before their prices skyrocket. RONNIT VASSERMAN is the founder of Art Connect Group (ACG), a full service art consulting firm that focuses on exhibition curating and design, art acquisition for residential and commercial spaces, education and cultural programming, and public relations for upcoming art exhibitions. Rashid Johnson at the Guggenheim Museum Rashid Johnson: A Poem for Deep Thinkers (April 18, 2025 through January 18, 2026) highlights the paintings, photographs, large-scale sculptures, and videos from this Chicago-born contemporary artist and scholar of art history. Working across disciplines including philosophy, literature, and music, Johnson's art explores his personal past and identity within the larger context of African American intellectual and creative history. This major solo exhibition includes almost 90 works, from black-soap paintings and spray-painted text to Sanguine, a monumental site-specific installation on the building’s top ramp with an embedded piano for musical performances. Walking Tour: Fashionable Upper East Side Aside from top designer boutiques, the Upper East Side is also home to premier art galleries. The gallery spaces there are more intimate than the huge white cube galleries of Chelsea and some occupy elegant townhouses. The tour will visit at least four galleries.
