Learn to Play the Violin Specially designed for adult learners new to the violin and to the elements of music, this course teaches foundational and continuing skills in violin technique, music reading, music theory, and ear training. The group class format also provides a unique opportunity for students to enjoy making music together, engage in group discussions, and support one another. No previous musical experience is necessary but you must bring your own instrument to class. MARK KUSHNIR performs as concertmaster of the Putnam Chorale Orchestra, principal 2nd violin of the Taconic Opera Orchestra, member of the Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, and is active in other area orchestras and chamber ensembles. He received an MFA from Sarah Lawrence College, a BM. from Cleveland Institute of Music, and a diploma from Interlochen Arts Academy. 8 Sessions, starting Wednesday, April 2 (no class 4/16) • 2:00pm-3:00pm • Hoff-Barthelson Music School • Course 13261 • $305
Learn to Play the Cello Specially designed for adult learners new to the cello and to the elements of music, this course teaches foundational and continuing skills in cello technique, music reading, music theory, and ear training. The group class format also provides a unique opportunity for students to enjoy making music together, engage in group discussions, and support one another. No previous musical experience is necessary but students must bring their own instrument to class. AMY ANWAR received a BM at the University of Iowa, a DMA in cello performance at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and an MM at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Anwar is a former member of the Quad City Symphony, has performed in the sections of the Dayton Philharmonic and the Kentucky Symphony Orchestra, and has participated in a number of summer festivals.
