Music Appreciation Pianist Cristiana Pegoraro in Concert: Multimedia Performance of Vivaldi's Four Seasons Cristiana Pegoraro presents her version of Vivaldi’s famous Four Seasons in an original multimedia, innovative performance, combining an unpublished transcription for piano with Vivaldi's own sonnets that were the genesis of his musical opus. For a completely immersive experience of the sounds and images and atmosphere that inspired Vivaldi, the concert incorporates an original and fascinating video projection by internationally renowned photographer Mino La Franca. The evocative landscapes of the regions of Italy will accompany this journey through time, nature, and music. In this modern interpretation of Vivaldi, Pegoraro demonstrates that baroque music is timeless, alive, and relevant. CRISTIANA PEGORARO is an Italian pianist and composer. Called “an artist of the highest caliber” by the New York Times, she has performed at Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, the Sydney Opera House and other international venues and has recorded many CDs. She regularly conducts master classes across the United States (including at the Juilliard School), and in Italy, Portugal and the Middle East. Beyond Beethoven: A Thousand Years of Music Why listen to music written centuries ago, decades ago, or weeks ago? What makes some music classic while other music is long forgotten? How do composers and performers decide what they want music to say? Featuring a wide menu of music from the Middle Ages to Mozart, Bach to bebop, Haydn to hip-hop and more, this class goes beyond a traditional music appreciation course to explore the experiences of creating, performing, interpreting, conducting, improvising, and listening to music in different genres. All generations welcome — no previous listening or playing experience necessary! RICHARD HOFFMAN has been teaching music appreciation courses to adults since 2015. Previously, he taught history and “Theory of Knowledge” at Dobbs Ferry High School for over 30 years. He has also served as a conductor, singer, keyboard player, program annotator, and radio host.
