Zen Design Doodling Learn how to create stunning monogram,
mandala, nature, and animal designs in both black and white and color. This fun and relaxing design-based drawing course is suitable for all ability-levels. Each session incorporates a hands-on demonstration, individual support as needed, and an opportunity to share your art at the end of the session. See website for materials list. MAXINE NODEL is an award-winning, versatile visual artist and art instructor who exhibits and sells her work nationally and internationally. She received her BFA from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Nodel was an adult art instructor at the National Art League in Queens and is also the retired founder and Principal of a NYC visual art high school created using a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant awarded in 2003. Nodel is a member of the Salmagundi Art Club in NYC, as well as the Edward Hopper House where she was named Artist of the Month in 2013 and invited to give a public talk about her design-based drawings. Nodel's nature paintings were reviewed extensively by Italian cultural journalist Ippolita Sicoli in 2021. 8 Sessions, starting Tuesday, April 8 (no class 4/15, 6/3) Tuesday, April 22 (no class 6/3) • 12:30pm-2:30pm • Shaarei Tikvah • Course 13195 • $280 Portrait Drawing Learn classical techniques for accurately drawing realistic human figures with spirit. Instruction will prioritize gesture, structure, composition, and the likeness of the model. Through demos and critiques, students will focus on line, form, measuring, linear drawing, value compression, and negative space to create a dynamic portrait. Along the way, hone the skills that apply to drawing people, landscapes, and more for sketchbooks and other projects in the future. See website for materials list. Drawing Landscape and Nature in Color with Graphite Pencils, Colored Pencils, and Watercolor Paint Using graphite pencils, colored pencils, and watercolor paint, draw expressive landscapes and nature, including botanicals, trees, and all things natural. Learn from your surroundings and focus on nature in native settings as well as still life. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. See website for materials list. MAGGIE O'KEEFE is a New York based artist, classically trained in drawing and painting and works in graphite, oil paint, colored pencil, and watercolor. Recent clients include the New Republic, the Boston Globe, Howler Magazine, and Kristof Farms. She received her BFA from Cornell University in 2019 and studied at the Art Students League of New York. She is an award-winning junior member at the Salmagundi Club, received the 2022 Harvey and Lois Dinnerstein Grant for Realism, was a finalist for the 2021 Portrait Society Future Generation Competition, and has been awarded many other honors for her artwork.
