Arts & Crafts Zen Design Doodling Learn how to create stunning monogram, mandala, nature, and animal designs in both black and white and color. This fun and relaxing design-based drawing course is suitable for all ability-levels. Each session incorporates a hands-on demonstration, individual support as needed, and an opportunity to share your art at the end of the session. See website for materials list.
MAXINE NODEL is an award-winning, versatile visual artist and art instructor who exhibits and sells her work nationally and internationally. She received her BFA from Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. Nodel was an adult art instructor at the National Art League in Queens and is also the retired founder and Principal of a NYC visual art high school created using a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Grant awarded in 2003. Nodel is a member of the Salmagundi Art Club in NYC, as well as the Edward Hopper House where she was named Artist of the Month in 2013 and invited to give a public talk about her design-based drawings. Drawing Following an interdisciplinary approach from a wide range of artistic traditions, use varied materials (pencil, charcoal, markers, pen and ink) to draw from observation and imagination. Through demonstrations, learn how to use light and dark values to bring your subjects to life. Explore various drawing techniques to enhance and develop your individual skill and your satisfaction. ANTONIA BAROLINI-ALVAREZ is a painter and draftsperson working in watercolor, oil, acrylic, marker, colored pencil, as well as oil and chalk pastel. She received a BA from Bard College where she majored in studio art and minored in literature and an MFA from the New York Academy of Art. She was twice awarded the Bard Fund for Visual Learning Grant and, while at the Academy, the Terra Foundation’s Giverny Summer Residency. Her work has appeared in various group shows in New York City and Poughkeepsie.
