Realistic Drawing Learn to draw anything beautifully with instruction on the art of line, form, shading, and texture, as well as perspective and composition. Subject matter will include still life, landscape, the human form, and animals. Graphite, charcoal, ink, and reference images or objects will be provided. Each session will include a live hands-on drawing demonstration with examples, independent drawing time with individualized support, and an opportunity to share your art at the end of each session. Class is suitable for beginners and intermediate artists alike. See website for materials list. Drawing Landscape and Nature in Color with Graphite Pencils, Colored Pencils, and Watercolor Paint Using graphite pencils, colored pencils, and watercolor paint, draw expressive landscapes and nature, including botanicals, trees, and all things natural. Learn from your surroundings and focus on nature in native settings as well as still life. Materials list will be sent to registered students prior to class. See website for materials list. MAGGIE O'KEEFE is a New York based artist, classically trained in drawing and painting and works in graphite, oil paint, colored pencil, and watercolor. Recent clients include the New Republic, the Boston Globe, Howler Magazine, and Kristof Farms. She received her BFA from Cornell University in 2019 and studied at the Art Students League of New York. She is an award-winning junior member at the Salmagundi Club, received the 2022 Harvey and Lois Dinnerstein Grant for Realism, was a finalist for the 2021 Portrait Society Future Generation Competition, and has been awarded many other honors for her artwork.
Portrait Drawing Learn classical techniques for accurately drawing realistic human figures with spirit. Instruction will prioritize gesture, structure, composition, and the likeness of the model. Through demos and critiques, students will focus on line, form, measuring, linear drawing, value compression, and negative space to create a dynamic portrait. Along the way, hone the skills that apply to drawing people, landscapes, and more for sketchbooks and other projects in the future. See website for materials list. Expressive Motion of Charcoal Drawing Explore and develop fundamental drawing skills using charcoal and pencils and inspiration from impressionist and post-impressionist artists such as Cézanne and Van Gogh. This dynamic and fun class is suitable for artists of all levels, from beginners to advanced. MOSHGAN REZANIA studied art at the Kamalolmolk School of Fine Arts in Iran. She received a BS from Hunter College in Fine Art and Art History. She has exhibited nationally and internationally.
