Le 14 juin dernier, les résidents de L’Oasis à la Résidence Simon ont reçu la visite d’une amie à quatre pattes très spéciale. Clémentine, un cheval miniature du Centre équestre et thérapeutique de Wynbrook à Vars, qui travaille comme cheval de thérapie, est venue offrir à la résidence un moment de paix et de calme. Ce cheval miniature de 12 ans, qui n’est pas un poney, en était à sa deuxième sortie en tant qu›animal de thérapie, la première ayant eu lieu lors d›une visite au CHEO à l’automne. « Elle aime vraiment être entourée d›affection », dit Lisa Lalonde, propriétaire de Wynbrook avec Joel et Emily Lalonde, ce qui fait de Clementine une candidate idéale pour le travail de thérapeute. Clémentine a été mise à contribution après que les responsables de la Résidence Simon, qui prennent des chevaux en pension à Wynbrook, ont appris les dons particuliers du cheval miniature, notamment son com- portement apaisant, et se sont renseignés sur les services qu›elle pourrait offrir à la résidence. /BZBOU BNFOÊ $MÊNFOUJOF RVF QPVS rencontrer des enfants dans le passé, Lisa ne savait pas trop à quoi s’attendre, mais elle avait appris de son expérience au CHEO. Les enfants, probablement plus turbu- lents que les résidents de L’Oasis, étaient incroyablement excités à l’idée de nourrir Clémentine, qui était plus qu›obligée de prendre la collation aux pommes que les enfants lui offraient. Enduring torrential and unpredictable rain, gale force winds (including a torna- do warning) and continued smokey hea- vy air from wildfires, Clarence-Rockland residents made their way out, when the weather permitted, to celebrate Canada Day this past weekend. Thanks to the volunteers and city staff, the venues at Simon Park kept operating as best they could through the inclement weather, which included blow-up slides, a rope-climbing wall, car show and, of course, the music tent which took some heavy damage following the evenings storm. However, despite some delays, most notably the rescheduling of the Pop rocks concert, the show still went on. City staff were happy to see residents came out when they could, dodging bouts of rain, to enjoy Canada’s 156 th birthday.
