Introduction
Learners credited with this Unit Standard can formulate mathematical and statistical approaches to solving problems in a range of meaningful situations, use mathematics and statistics to meet the numeracy demands of a range of meaningful situations and explain the reasonableness of mathematical and statistical responses to situations. Outcome1 Formulate mathematical and statistical approaches to solving problems in a range of meaningful situations. Performance Criteria 1.1 Select an appropriate operation, representation, variable and/or method to solve the problem(s). Outcome2: Use mathematics and statistics to meet the numeracy demands of a range of meaningful situations. Performance Criteria 2.1 Apply mathematical and statistical procedures correctly in the situations. Outcome3: Explain the reasonableness of mathematical and statistical responses to situations. Performance Criteria 3.1 Describe whether the method selected and/or calculation used is reasonable. The assessment is digitally assessed and is offered twice a year (June & October); students should sit the assessment when they are academically ready, working at upper level 4 / lower Level 5 of the New Zealand Curriculum.
