Year 12
Prerequisites Te Reo 1, Te Reo 2, Te Reo 3, and Te Reo 4 Description Te Reo Māori is an official language of Aotearoa and a core component of understanding our bicultural nation. Students will grow the skills and knowledge to communicate in te reo with some independence and confidence in everyday whānau, marae, social/community, workplace and/or academic contexts; and in Māori environments where they feel comfortable. Year 12 Reo Māori offers an intermediate level of the Māori Language. Te Reo is studied in greater depth with an emphasis on oral and written Māori.
Assessment This course contributes towards NCEA Level 2, with 12 of the 28 credits externally assessed by examination, and the remaining 16 credits internally assessed. The following Achievement Standards will be assessed: • AS 91284 (4 credits – internal) Te Reo Māori 2.1 – Whakarongo kia mōhio ki te reo o te ao torotoro. • AS 91285 (6 credits – internal) Te Reo Māori 2.2 – Kōrero kia whakamahi i te reo o te ao torotoro. • AS 91286 (6 credits – external) Te Reo Māori 2.3 – Pānui kia mōhio ki te reo o te ao torotoro. • AS 91287 (6 credits – external) Te Reo Māori 2.4 – Tuhi i te reo o te ao torotoro. • AS 91288 (6 credits – internal) Te Reo Māori 2.5 – Waihanga tuhinga auaha, i te reo o te ao torotoro.
