Buying and selling information
Opening times Venduehuis The Hague is open from Tuesday to Friday from 10 AM to 4 PM. During viewing days, the opening times as stated above may differ. For up-to-date opening times, please visit www.venduehuis.com. The Venduehuis is closed on National and Public Holidays. Price estimates and descriptions In our catalogue we list the expected proceeds of each lot to indicate sales prices. We must emphasise this is an estimate: the hammer price may turn out higher but also lower than estimated. We do our utmost to provide accurate estimations, but please consider them educated opinions rather than absolute facts. Condition of items Any flaws and restorations of the lots are not systematically listed. You are expected to assess the condition of the lots during our viewing days. Should you wish to receive additional information about a specific lot, please contact us to request a report of its condition. Please keep in mind photos in our catalogue and on our website may not always be true to life. No rights may be derived from the information printed in this catalogue, as the catalogue may contain misprints, errors or miscommunications. Online Only Bidding If an auction is Online Only, bidding solely happens online and is only possible after registration. If you are not registered already, you need to register first by completing the registration form on our website. In general, 200 lots are auctioned per hour. Please note that if someone bids during the last three minutes before the bidding for a lot ends, the time in which you can bid will be extended: from the moment the last bid is placed, you will have three minutes left to place your bid. The lot will be closed when there are no further bids. To place your bid, log in, navigate to the auction and click on your favourite lot. There are two ways to bid: -Place a manual bid: click on ‘Place a Bid’ and follow the instructions. You will receive a mail when there is a counterbid. -Place a commission bid: click on ‘Set your max bid’, fill in your desired commission bid and follow the instructions. If there is a counterbid, our system will now automatically bid for you. A bid will be placed automatically for you up to and including the maximum amount as given by you. You will receive a mail when there is a counterbid.
Buyer’s Premium, Payment & Collection If your bid is the winning bid, you will automatically receive an invoice. Bought lots should be paid within 5 days after the auction. After payment, your lot(s) can be collected. Swift collection of the lots is appreciated and must be done within 15 working days after the auction. Please make an appointment on our website to retrieve your lot(s). If a seller or buyer does not pick up their lots when they have been urged thrice to do so by phone or in writing within a period of at least two months, Venduehuis The Hague is entitled to resell the lots. The Venduehuis can do so without notice if lots are not collected after 6 months. Please note that storage costs apply if lots are collected too late. Buyer’s Premium The buyer’s premium per lot on the hammer price is: • 30% up to €100,000 • 24% on the amount exceeding €100,000 When bidding through an external auction platform such as Invaluable or Drouot, an additional 5% fee will be added to the hammer price. Artist’s Resale Right (Droit de Suite) The Artist’s Resale Right applies to the auctioning of original artworks by artists residing in the Netherlands, or who hold the nationality of an EU/ EEA country, or another country listed on www.pictoright.nl, for a period of 70 years following the artist’s death. In accordance with Dutch and international law, Venduehuis The Hague will recover the statutory resale royalty from the buyer. If the total of the hammer price plus buyer’s premium is €3,000 or more, the resale royalty is
calculated as follows: >€0 to €50.000: 4%
>€50,000 to €200.000: 3% >€200,000 to €350.000: 1% >€350,000 to €500.000: 0.5% >€500,000 and above: 0.25% (with a maximum royalty of €12,500) Example: If the total hammer price plus buyer’s premium is €3,900, the resale royalty is 4% of €3,900 = €156. Payments Payment for a lot must be made immediately, and no later than 5 working days after receiving the invoice. We prefer payment via the iDeal link included in the invoice or through any other form of electronic transfer. For payments made via PayPal or (business) credit cards, an additional 5% fee will be charged on the total invoice amount.
