In 1995, the couple Ans and Harry Groeneveld-Woerlee donated their art collection to the Singer Museum in Laren. This extensive collection included works by, among others, Isaac Israels, George Hendrik Breitner, Jan Sluijters and Marc Chagall. At that time, it was decided to retain a few paintings within the family, including the still life by Jan Sluijters that is now being offered at auction.
