Iota Iota-George Washington Iota Iota Introduces Alumnae to Seniors Interview Series Iota Iota-George Washington does not take their role as a collegiate chapter lightly. According to Nicole Herman (Eta Lambda- George Mason), the chapter’s member experience advisor and alumnae engagement director, its members recently created an Alumnae to Seniors Interview Series that highlights the career path of alumnae in (or recently in) the Washington D.C. area where they reflect on their leadership in Alpha Phi and offer advice to graduating seniors on graduate school, interviews, first jobs, mentorships, salary and major life changes. The series is directed toward the senior class as additional programming to connect them with alumnae who are happy to help them as they begin the next stage their lives and as they begin establishing their careers. The interviews are recorded via audio and distributed to the senior class so that they may tune in to the alumnae interviews and take the opportunity to expand their network. The series is also highlighted in chapter every week so members can reach out to the alumnae, if they are interested. The virtual interview series has interviewed alumnae from George Washington (Iota Iota), George Mason (Eta Lambda), Pepperdine (Iota Alpha) and the University of Southern California (Beta Pi) so far. According to Nicole, the seniors have received inside knowledge from these alumnae on the fields of health administration & management, consumer research & marketing, international teaching, international development, interpersonal conflict facilitation and financial analysis. Additionally, the alumnae have called in from their busy careers ranging from D.C., New York and Florida all the way to those abroad in Greece and Australia and carved out time from their busy lives to connect with collegiate members. Participating alumnae members have answered their ending interview question – “What has been the best decision of your career so far?” – with astuteness and discernment as they share their best tips for the senior class. Iota Iota is currently planning another semester of interviews with plans to bring an interview to the chapter for an interactive session. “As an added bonus to the interviews, each alumna has detailed the flashbacks of their former positions as Social Media Chair, Panhellenic Delegate, Vice President of Membership Recruitment, New Member Education Assistant, Chaplain and more,” Nicole explained. “They have also shared their favorite and most formative memories of their time in Alpha Phi from formals in Malibu, singing songs with sisters and experiencing the strength of sisterhood while dealing with a death in the family during the first years of college. The alumnae have risen to the challenge of meeting the seniors with deep thoughtfulness and kindness as they have mediated on their post-grad experience.” Congratulations, Iota Iota, and thank you to all of the alumnae who have participated in this program to make it possible!
