Prep Students may take one or both prep courses. Monsoon Asia A study of population patterns, processes, and geopolitics in selected countries in Monsoon Asia. We cover the nature and structure of the population; distribution and growth patterns; the processes of population movement; the reasons for the different living conditions; and sustainability issues associated with each of these. Prerequisite for: an advantage for taking Geography at Level 2, but not required. Natural environment This course delves into the delicate balance between development and resources exploitation within a variety of different environments, with a focus on sustainability. Students will engage with comprehensive case studies, including rainforest environments, first and third world countries. These areas of focus will serve as a practical framework for understanding the complexities of balancing development and sustainability. Students will analyse historical and contemporary issues, evaluate different perspectives, and develop strategic solutions for promoting sustainable practices. Prerequisite for: an advantage for taking Geography at Level 2, but not required.

Core

Megacity madness This course looks at the effects of urbanisation and congestion on people and environments, with case studies from around the world. Recommended for students with an interest in the impact of development on both people and the planet. Extreme natural events This course looks deeper at how extreme natural event(s) have shaped environments. All events have an impact on people and places around the world and students compare the nature of these events and their consequences. Recommended for students with an interest in the physical world.
