ELEMENT 6.1 - PRACTICAL ASSESSMENT: APPLYING WORK INSTRUCTIONS FOR INSPECTION, CLEANING, PREPARATION AND INSTALLATION OF T-CONNECTORS

Learning objectives:

30) Apply work instructions effectively and safely for cleaning, preparing and installation of a separable T-Connector (Skills, intermediate level)

31) Perform site cleanup and restore the work area after completing the cable pull (Skills, intermediate level)

32) Take responsibility for the installation environment by removing obstructions and controlling the area (Ability, intermediate level)

The instructor shall:

Brief participants on the assessment conditions which requires the participants to work independently to correctly implement a work instruction for cleaning, preparing and installation of a separable T- Connector to a Type-F Bushing without support from the instructor.

The instructor may quiz participants on relevant points such as:

a. removal of any obstructions, preparing and maintaining safety of the installation area

b. how to deal with potentially damaged equipment, or equipment in an unsuitable condition for connection

c. challenging the participant by presenting actual damaged components for evaluation during the assessment

The participants shall:

Work independently to correctly and safely implement a work instruction for cleaning, preparing and installation of a separable T-Connector to a Type-F Bushing without support from the instructor.

Answer any questions or challenges posed by the instructor related to good and bad practices, pitfalls and typical problems or damaged components

Explain how to determine if a cable and connection is sufficiently secured, ensuring compliance with work instructions and safety standards.

Worksite cleanup and final inspection: Complete a real or simulated post-installation site walk-down, identifying any hazards, securing loose materials, and ensuring the cable is secure and protected.
