Introduce participants to HV transformers common in the wind industry illustrating different types, features, components and functions, including:
a.
dry transformers
b.
wet transformers
Highlight different and common features found across a range of different transformer types commonly found in the wind industry
a.
nameplate and safety labels
b.
secure enclosures, hinges, locking provisions
c. high and low voltage bushings, tap changer, protection devices, trip testing, arc flash detection, ground connections and relevant accessories

e. bolted connections to properly secure components
f. transformer mounted equipment: temperature and pressure sensors
g.
temperature control: air or water cooling system
h.
moisture control including silica gel
Illustrate and lead a discussion on the consequences of maintenance failures in HV transformers in the wind industry
The participants shall:
Explore the features and functions of different types of HV transformer types common in the wind industry
Work in pairs to suggest the different challenges created due to poor preventative maintenance routines and suggest benefits of regular inspection and service of equipment
