15) Recognise typical preventative maintenance tasks for HV transformers in the wind industry (Knowledge, basic level)
The instructor shall:
Introduce participants to typical HV transformer inspection routines and preventative maintenance tasks using example work instructions and HV transformer or training props
a.
visual inspection
b.
cleaning of dirty, contaminated or soiled surfaces
c.
avoiding moisture entering equipment
d.
identifying corrosion and damage
e. integrity inspection on hinges, locking provisions, corrosion, etc.
f.
oil sampling, oil changes
g.
illustrate oil leakage issues
h.
integrity of gaskets
i. importance of correctly torqued bolted connections settings to properly secure components
j. functioning protection devices, trip testing, arc flash detection and transformer mounted equipment: temperature and pressure sensors
k.
temperature control: air or water cooling system
l. moisture control: evaluation & replacement or silica gel
Question participants on their recognition of features and components, including condition of items in good and bad condition
The participants shall:
Explore the features and components of the HV transformer, identifying relevant components and features for routine inspection
Engage in the instructor led questions to clarify understanding of each component, their normal functions and expected condition
