Yancy Whitaker, aidé de Carter Vollett et Cole Dennison, a trouvé le The final weekend of October proved a “win one/lose one” situation for the Vankleek Hill Cougars. The Cougars finished the October sche- dule of games in the National Capital Junior Hockey League with back-to-back matches against the Gatineau Hull-Volant. Gatineau won last Friday’s game 4-3 on the club’s home ice while the Cougars took the win 5-2, Saturday night, in the rematch at the Vankleek Hill Arena. Jonathan Lacroix punched in two goals Friday for Vankleek Hill with Nikolas Ayotte adding a single point to the Cougars’ score. Nicolas Castonguay assisted on the goal-scoring that night while Daniel Cristea and Frederick Durocher-Bourdon shared goalkeeping duty. Single points for Gatineau came from Lou-Félix Dallaire, Dave Fréchette, Simon Juneau-Richer, and Jacob Leguerier. Assisting on the goals were Juneau-Richer, Jérémie Cardinal, Brad Faubert, and Jeremy Trudeau, with Marc-Olivier Bastien guarding the net. Popping in singles all night Saturday for Vankleek Hill were Vincent Huneault, Simon Hupé, Jonathan Lacroix, Trystan Lavoie, and Keean MacEachern. Goal assists came from MacEachern, Nikolas Ayotte, Nicolas Cas- tonguay, Samuel Lemay, and Charles-Olivier Portelance, with Durocher-Bourdon guarding the net. Gatineau’s goals came from Jérémie Cardinal and Jeremy Trudeau. Assisting on the goals were Cédric Bertrand, Dave Fréchette, and Danny Plourde-Grenon, with Jérémy Martin in the net. The Cougars begin the November sche- dule with a Friday road trip against the Bytown Royals, then home Saturday evening to host Saint-Isidore. GREGG CHAMBERLAIN gregg.chamberlain@eap.on.ca

Although the Hawkesbury Hawks fought tooth and nail, they failed to win their two most recent games. They first lost to the Kemptville 73s on October 23, 2-1. They then were defeated 3-2 on October 27, against the Pembroke Lumber Kings. —archives
